Five minutes across the Thames from Wallingford and just a short drive from Henley, Oxford and Reading, The Queen’s Head is set in the lovely village of Crowmarsh Gifford. Surrounded by picturesque countryside, it’s the perfect place to enjoy a leisurely lunch and a country walk.
Spending a day or two in the Wallingford area? A visit to The Queen’s Head is a must - but there’s plenty more to do besides. The Wallingford Pancake Race on Shrove Tuesday, and the Food and Beer & Blues Festivals in summer are among the highlights of a packed calendar.
You can also enjoy the Castle Gardens and walks along the riverside, or visit the town’s heated outside pool - a great place for the family to enjoy.
Wallingford is also a popular haunt for film and television crews, with Midsomer Murders regularly filmed here and in the surrounding villages. You can find out about tours of these locations by going to www.visitmidsomer.com. Also nearby is Basildon Park, a National Trust property near Pangbourne which featured in the 2005 film adaptation of Pride and Prejudice.
A little further afield, there a number of beautiful towns and cities to discover including Oxford, Henley, Reading and Dorchester.
